Many and beautiful bronze pieces has been found all over Etruria, the ancient Etruscan region, that takes place all over from Southern up to Northern Italy from IX Cen BC up to the II Cen BC. Mostly they were found in tombs or temples, they were either offerings to the Gods or were made to bring good luck or to protect from evil spirits. |

Fighting Mars This warrior on biga is a beautiful copy of a piece dated V Cen b.C. He is throwing a lance, the Etruscans would put in their tombs a large number of warriors or horses or chariots...to be their army in the next world, in fact for the Etruscans the death was only a passage to the next world. Mars, along with Minerva was the most represented figure in the Etruscan art.

The
votive comb
As the men did with the "power tools" such as horses and chariots, so the women did with the ornaments and the beauty tools. So many of them were found in the tombs. Like this votive comb. The design shows a female figure pouring water to a male honorable figure. He has a warrior behind him symbolizing power or strength-see the helmet-, she has a figure with flowers or leaves in her hand, symbolizing abundance or wealth. Dated VI Cen B.C. and now in Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome.

The sphinx The sphinx is a fantastic figure related to wisdom. It has the figure of a winged lion usually with a female head. One of the front legs lifted in act of telling something. The original of this piece is visible at the Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome and is dated VI Cen bC

Warrior on a horse This warrior on biga is a beautiful copy of a piece dated V Cen b.C. He is sitting on a horse, with an helmet, and both - horse and helmet- were symbols of strength and power. The Etruscans would put in their tombs a large number of warriors or horses or chariots...to be their army in the next world. The Etruscans believed that death was only a passage to the next world.

The Servants: the man of medicine, the fisherman, the musician As we said, the Etruscans will put in their tombs all they would need in the next life, so as they did this with horses and chariots -symbols of power- they would do that also with households or wealth symbols. These 3 servants are all symbols of wealth: The Man of Medicine: symbolizing good health is recognizable because the arms that holds a cup has a snake around it. The Fisherman: symbol of food and abundance. The Musician: symbol of amusement and joy of life. To be sold as a set only.
