The tradition of the Tuscan linens
The linens are probably one of the better known tradition among the Tuscan art crafts.
The corporation of the weavers was powerful in the early renaissance in Florence, and spread out into the center of Italy.

The most famous centers for the weavers were , Florence, Siena  and Anghiari in Tuscany, Montefalco in Umbria.

Stefano is 36 his brother Marco is 34 and their small manufacture is located in Torrita di Siena, a small but quaint and pretty place nearby Siena. He has a tradition of decades in this field having his father and mother passed the tradition to him.

As well as all the companies that Il Girasole carries in his shop, Stefano and Marco follow the rules that made us known and appreciated in the world: Quality, Style, Service.

Everyday highly qualified products are created by Stefano and Marco's looms, ready to dress your home with their colors and harmony, ready to make you feel day by day the natural country warmth of Tuscany and its traditions, which shines through the colors, the pure linens and the transparencies of these works.

Stefano And Marco's company is one of the few similar company in Italy that produces its own fabric in its workshop, using their own jacquard looms and designs, therefore all kind of personalization is possible.

All you see here can be personalized. If you have special measures, extravagant table sizes or other exigencies, feel free to ask us. Send an e-mail to Alessandra, and within few days she'll provide you with prices, shipping costs and times of realization.

Be aware anyway that being this an highly qualified artisan work, custom made items will take anything between three to six weeks to be ready.

After all this is not so much for a piece of Italian traditional, isn’t it?

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

I'd like to give you some short and simple instructions about taking care of these pieces of art, it is really not complicated at all and many of you will be surprised, please, read..

Taking care of these pieces is easy:

  • Before even using them for the first time you have to pre-wash it, meaning
that you have to get a basin of cold water and soak the linens for 24 hours,
with just plain water, no soap no nothing, hang them to dry and that’s it.
This will firm up the fibres and avoid future shrinking.
    After the pre washing
you can wash them in the washer, at mild temperature.

  • DO NOT DRY CLEAN. EVER. Even if you need to have your tablecloth professionally cleaned, tell the cleaner to water wash it.

  • DO NOT TUMBLE DRY.

  • If there is a stain pre-treat it with soap or other cleaners –I use oxy clean,
natural soap or Vanish - follow instructions in this case, then wash it regularly.

  • In case of fringes, tie them up before putting the item in the washer or use one
of those net like bags for delicates.
